Principal's Corner
July 18, 2024
Hello! I am thrilled to have been appointed the Acting Principal of Riverside Elementary! I wanted to reach and out and formally introduce myself. I am Heather Eden. I hope that this message finds you enjoying the summer and that you and your children are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together in September. I can assure you that I share in Riverside’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day while providing them a high-quality learning environment.
The 2024-2025 school year will mark my 23rd year in education. I was a teacher for 20 years, 15 of those in the Elmira City School District, grades 3-6. I taught at both Hendy and Broadway Elementary. I also held the role of Data Curriculum Coordinator for Beecher and Broadway Elementary. For the past several years, I was an Assistant Principal at Elmira High School. I am very familiar with Riverside Elementary as my two children attended this school and continue to attend Elmira City School District schools. My family and I hold much of their current success to the foundation that was built by the staff and community of Riverside.
I lead with a mindset of doing what is in the best interest of our children as my walk as a parent has forever impacted me as an educator. I believe in building strong relationships between our students and home to create success for our learners. I am committed to meeting the needs of all students and effectively communicating with parents and community members.
Throughout this school year, I hope we work together to provide students with the best opportunities to prepare themselves for the world, equipped with skills and knowledge as building blocks to their futures. As Principal, my door is always open, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to reach out to help make this year the best it can be!
Sincerely,
Acting Principal
